Hybrid Travel Trailers are similar to standard travel trailers but offers a larger space-to-weight ratio. They offer the sleeping space flexibility of a folding camper with the convenience of a small hard shelled camper providing bigger families sufficient lodging area in a lighter, shorter trailer. Hybrid travel trailers are towed from behind and vehicles transporting the trailers require a frame-mounted hitch on the rear bumper. These campers require a van, sport and utility vehicle, mid to full-size family automobiles or other truck-based vehicles for safe towing.
These hybrid travel trailers are normally about 16 to 33 feet in length. To provide lodging for any size family many different sleeping accommodations and floor plans are available. Hybrid Travel trailers have the largest variety of floor plans because interior space for a drivers cab is not necessary. Depending on the body style, configuration and size customarily accommodate six or more individuals. New standard models start at about $18,000. More luxurious, larger units can reach up to over $30,000.
The hybrid travel trailer can come furnished with all conveniences of homes like all recreational vehicles including entertainment, dining area, sleeping facilities, cooking area, fully enclosed bathrooms, bunk beds, up front cargo area and more. These trailers have one or more push out beds for extra sleeping space. When stationary these bunk beds fold down from the side. When mobile the bunk beds fold back up into the walls of the trailer.
Some bigger units are constructed so the trailer can be used with the sides up while some models upper roof and walls can be lowered over its bottom section reducing its height for transport. One type has a pull out tent section and rigid sides. Units can be separated when stationary which allows the transport vehicle freedom for running errands, excursions, short trips and other conventional uses.
