Maine Health Insurance

Maine health insurance is embroiled in the controversial health care insurance exchange debate, and like many of the other states, wants to wait for the Supreme Court ruling,. However, according to a recent study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, approximately 109,000 Maine residents went without health care in the last two years due to the expense. Even so, Maine is ranked at number 8 on America's Health Rankings by the United Health Foundation, with only 5% of Maine children are uninsured ( Kaiser Health Reform Source, 2011). While the state of health care insurance is in flux like the rest of the nation, Maine is still above the average status quo in the health of their general population.

This discussion will look at Maine health insurance and Maine health insurance coverage in three segments: employer provided health insurance, Maine (government) health insurance coverage, and uninsured Maine health care insurance options.

Employer Provided Health Insurance - As in the rest of United States and its territories, Maine residents receive the majority of health care insurance from their employers as a benefit in their compensation packages. The Kaiser Health Reform Sources states that 47% of the population of Maine citizens receives employer provided health insurance. The latest statistics from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners of 2011 have rated these following the top ten health insurance companies in Maine.

1. Anthem Health Plans of Maine Inc.

2. Aetna Life Insurance Company

3. United Health Care Insurance Company

4. Aetna Health Inc. Maine Corp.

5. Connecticut General Life Insurance Company

6. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Incorporated

7. HPHC Insurance Company Inc.

8. Arcadian Health Plan Inc.

9. Unum Life Insurance Company of America

10. Anthem Insurance Company Inc.

Maine (Government) Health Insurance Coverage - According to the Kaiser Health Reform Source 27% of the population of Maine is covered by Medicaid, while another 20% receive health insurance from Medicare. Those who are eligible for Medicare in Maine are normally eligible for Medicare part D, and enjoy access to 43 Medicare prescription medication plans. Those who qualify for extra help through state and federally funded programs have access to 4 prescription drug plans and pay sum zero for premiums. SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) is an agency of the Maine government that enables Medicare recipients to police their health care costs through education. Many instances of waste and fraud have been recognized thanks to SMP. Maine CARE is the new title for the former Medicaid program in Maine that provides health insurance access to those who meet income specific guidelines. Maine RX is a prescription assistance program for low-income families and individuals.

Uninsured Maine Health Care Insurance Options - The state of Maine has an elevated approach to the challenges of the uninsured with their Dirigo Health program. Those who employ their services will be immediately plugged into the Part-Time Workers Program, the Pre-Existing Condition Plan, learn about HCTC ( the Health Coverage Tax Credit) and find out how to become eligible and receive health care insurance through the Maine Parent Expansion Program. The Maine Parent Expansion program is targeted towards those families with children and pregnant women who meet income specific guidelines. According to the Kaiser Health Reform Source, 10% of Maine residents are uninsured and the Maine Parent Expansion Program seeks to lower this figure of uninsured through public awareness of their program.

. Your favorite reaosn appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people consider worries that they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
