Sustainable Practices

Sustainable Practices or Sustainable Living Practices have their roots in the `back to the earth movement that began in the 20^th century. This movement was energized by the energy crisis of the 1970's and has informed a wide array of environmental, economic, scientific, and local innovations. These advances have taken place in every sector of the global society. Those who are involved in the sustainable practices mind-set or the `green movement' focus on local food availability, green business practices, alternative transportation methods, renewable energy research and development, ecotourism, organic foods, permaculture, ecological literacy, water conservation, and air pollution. Global waste management systems such as recycling of materials are becoming a part of community life. In many cities, ordinances have been passed forcing residents to recycle. These residents are given specific instructions on how to recycle and are told what types of packaging to use when doing so.

These areas of interest, however, are not complete. The sustainable practices area of expertise has penetrated every area of the global marketplace, and new words and concepts are constantly taking a place in the vocabulary of our everyday world.

Because the term sustainable is synonymous with enduring or lasting, the materials that are being utilized in building are a source of great interest to those who are in the business of housing, and construction. Energy efficiency, and alternative methods of heating, and cooling our home environments are becoming ordinary concerns, rather than out of the box mindsets.

Four years ago American auto designers were not yet ready to join the global marketplace when it came to offering eco-friendly fuel automobiles, and electric cars. Today, Ford, GM, and Chrysler are all catching up on eco in order to evolve and enhance their place in this area of the competitive global marketplace.

Disagreements and debates ensue over subjects such as global warming, and climate change that inform the sustainable practices area of interest.

However, opinions, and argument aside, the innovation and progress that is taking place in all areas of sustainable living, business, and health practices cannot be denied.
