The Eurhythmics

The duo was made up of Annie Lennox, a singer-songwriter from Scotland, and David A. Stewart, an English songwriter, musician and record producer. The duo would be called the Eurhythmics and they would go onto become arguably one of the most productive and commercially successful duos of the decade of the eighties.

Their second album, released in 1983, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) propelled the duo to superstardom and international success. The single of the same name was made into an MTV music video with Annie Lennox unveiling what would become her legendary gender bending style. The video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist in 1984.

Throughout the eighties the Eurhythmics produced and released eight albums, and was constantly on tour all over the world. This consistent, exhausting, and arduous performing schedule had finally taken its toll on the duo, and by 1990 they had disbanded.

However, their commitment to their musical career, and the demanding performance schedule also garnered the duo immense international acclaim and honors. In 1984, and 1987 the duo became the recipients of the Ivor Novello Award as Songwriters of the Year. They were also honored by the Ivor Novello Award in 1987 for Best Contemporary Song "It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)". They were honored with the Grammy Award in 1987 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Missionary Man". The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) awarded the Eurhythmics in 2000, 2008, 2009, and 2010 for "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" They were awarded the Brit Award in 1999 for their outstanding contribution to British Music.

At the end of the 20^th century Lennox and Stewart came together to record again and had significant success. They were then inducted into the United Kingdom Hall of Fame in 2005. As 2011 was drawing to a close it was reported that although the duo remain good friends there is no plans for reunion.
