Improve Your Breasts

In today's culture women young and old seek perfect breasts. Some women think their breasts aren't large enough, while others think their breasts are too large. In addition, our breasts change shape and size during our childbearing years and as we age. Don't despair, though. Regardless of your age, there are many non-invasive ways to enhance your breasts.

Breast Exercises to Improve Breasts
Do you remember this old schoolyard saying: "We must, we must, we must increase our busts"? That adage touted exercise as the key to enhancing breasts. As it turns out, exercise is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to improve the appearance of your breasts. Although you can't tone your breasts due to the fact that they are composed of subcutaneous fat and blood vessels, you can tone the muscles that support your breasts. Try these breast exercises to lift breasts:

  • Press-Ups: Press-ups are similar to push-ups, but you do this exercise standing up. Face the wall with your feet hip-width apart, and place your hands on the wall directly across from your shoulders. Standing about a foot and half from the wall, move your chest toward the wall. Hold while you count to three, and then push back until your arms are fully extended. Do at least ten reps.

  • Arm Lifts: Lie on your back with your arms straight out at your sides. (Your body should look like the letter "T.") With a two- to five-pound weight in each hand, bring your arms straight up above you with your palms facing inward, keeping the weights about three inches apart. Slowly lower your arms to the floor. Repeat for five to ten reps.

  • Chest Presses: Lie in the same position as you would to do arm lifts but bend your arms at the elbow. With a two- to five-pound weight in each hand, move your arms upward and inward so that the weights are extended over your chest and positioned about one inch apart. Repeat for five to ten reps.

By following these simple breast exercises to improve breasts and by maintaining good posture, you will be able to enhance the appearance of your breasts.

The Right Bra Can Make a Big Difference
Studies estimate that as many as ninety percent of all women are wearing the wrong size bra. On the surface, this doesn't sound like a big problem, but in actuality, an ill-fitting bra can cause backaches, stretch marks and droopy breasts.

To ensure you are wearing the right size bra, have a professional measure you and recommend styles that will flatter your figure. This is particularly important because, as we age, our breasts lose tissue and subcutaneous fat, which makes them appear less shapely. A properly fitting bra can help maximize the perkiness of your breasts as you age.

Breasts and Proper Nutrition
For healthy breasts, it is important to start with your body's foundation. This requires taking care of your breasts through monthly breast self-examinations and annual checkups. This is particularly important for women over forty, because our risk for breast cancer increases as we age. Women forty and over should have a yearly mammogram for early detection of breast cancer.

For optimal breast health, be sure that your body receives the proper amounts of the following vitamins:

  • Vitamin A: keeps your skin nourished so that it doesn't get dry and flaky.

  • Vitamin C: helps produce collagen, an important component of your skin.

  • Vitamin E: promotes healthy skin.

Water is also vital to taking care of your body and for healthy-looking skin. Be sure to drink eight to ten eight-ounce glasses of water each day to ensure that your body can properly absorb nutrients and flush out toxins. Water also helps your skin retain its elasticity, so drink up!
