Greenhouse Gas

By: Richard Martine   Post Date : November 06, 2012
The largest source of greenhouse gases in America is coal power factories that are utilized to create electricity. Running a close second is any type of transportation method that employ the use of fossil fuels to power the cars, trucks, and buses that are the vast source of movement in the United States.

Water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone are all forms of greenhouse gas.

Greenhouse gas takes in and releases emissions of infrared radiation. These gases are the central reason that ecological footprints are calculated. All of the named gases, water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone affect the planet in a multitude of ways, dependent upon how much of the specific gas is emitted and how often it emits. That is why greenhouse gas is an important material to understand in the context of global warming, climate change, and the greenhouse effect.

The effect of greenhouse gases on the planet Earth are not easily calculated, but apart from water vapor the main greenhouse gases, which include carbon dioxide, ozone, nitrous oxide, and methane, take decades to vacate the environment. It is important to appreciate that beyond the main greenhouse gases, small quantities of other greenhouse gases also exist. They are hydroflurocabons, perfluorcarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride among others. Some of these have an elevated global warming effect, as well.

Deforestation or the elimination of trees is another source of an increase in greenhouse gases. When trees are lost through human activity via harvesting or elimination, or by any type of natural disaster a major impact to global warming occurs due to less carbon dioxide being absorbed in the trees and more being emitted into the environment.

The continual outpouring of greenhouse gases is a source of great concern to a vast number of scientists, environmentalists, and the global citizenry. It is also a cause of immense controversy and will continue to be.
