Volunteering for the Iditarod
By: Hayley Post Date : June 05, 2012My fascination with dogsledding in general and the Iditarod in particular began when I first read the writings of Gary Paulsen, the acclaimed writer who first raced in the Iditarod in 1983. On a whim in 2009 I signed up to volunteer as a dog handler, fulfilling a long desire to see Alaska.
