What's Drinking Without a Few Drinking Games?

Playing a few drinking games with your buddies can be a fun way to spend a weekend night. Choose a game and look forward to some hilarious results with either old friends or new acquaintances. When you play drinking games, you can make friends quickly with strangers, as well as acquaintances.

However, take precaution: Drinking games can be dangerous, resulting in serious hangovers or worse. Always exercise extreme caution when playing drinking games and know when to stop drinking. If you aren't staying the night at the place where drinking games begin, plan a safe way to get home, either by arranging a ride with a friend or by calling a taxi. Never drive after playing a drinking game.

Now, in the interests of drunken camaraderie and huge laughs, pick a game ... any game.

The Name Game
For this drinking game everyone sits in a circle and one person says the name of a famous person. The next person must drink until they can come up with a celebrity or other famous person whose first name begins with the same letter as the previous celebrity's surname. The faster you come up with one, the less you have to drink!

For example, if the first person says "Michael Jackson," the next person could say "Jim Carrey," and the next person could say "Christopher Columbus."

As Christopher Columbus is a double C, the direction of the games reverses. Anyone who repeats a name pays for breaking the rules with a fixed penalty, ranging from having a few shots of beer to drinking a shot. As the drinking game continues this becomes a real challenge.

Never Have I Ever
This is a great way to learn about someone's past. In this drinking game, everyone sits in a circle. Pick one person and have them complete the phrase "Never have I ever" with a simple statement. For example, the person would say, "Never have I ever played a drinking game."

Next, all of those who have done the thing that the person says must stand up and drink a fixed measure of their drinks. As the games progresses and people get more open about their exploits, the statements get increasingly amusing (and sometimes just plain obscene).

Movie Drinking Games
Get your friends together to watch a movie. Before the movie begins, pick a line that the characters repeat throughout the film. Every time a character says the line you and your friends must drink.

Centurions
For 100 minutes, take a shot (1 to 1.5 ounces) of beer every minute. If you survive to finish the games, you have joined the elite ranks of the Centurions! Beware: This drinking game is a lot more difficult than it sounds.

The King of All Drinking Games
For this drinking game, gather your friends around a table and give everyone a drink. Place a big glass or pitcher (aka, the King's Cup) in the middle of the table and spread a deck of cards around the glass. One person will begin the game by drawing a card.

Before you begin the game, establish rules for the cards. For example, you might have the rule that every time a Jack is drawn all guys must drink while every time a Queen is drawn all girls must drink. Be creative, that's part of the fun of drinking games!

The only rule you can't modify is the rule for drawing a King: The first three people to draw a King get to pour as much or as little of their drinks as they want into the King's Cup. The fourth person to draw a King has to drink the entire contents of the King's Cup.

If you're wondering about any restrictions for the kinds of drinks allowed in the game, don't worry: All drinks are allowed. It's even better if everyone has a different drink. That way, the King's Cup will be an unsavory concoction of beer, liquor, wine and mixed drinks … all the more reason not to draw the last King!
