Sign of deteriorating water heater anode?
DIY Forum &bull Feb 21, 2010
I've noticed recently when we run hot water in the bath that now and then there is a quick burst of dark-colored (seemingly dark blue to purple) water, but it quickly reverts to clear water. Is this a sign of a deteriorating sacrificial anode in the water heater? Ours is a GE natural-gas water heater that's few years old -- anode has never been serviced. I gather it's not a big deal to shut off… Full Story »

Septic Issue? Musty Smell In House, And Toilet Won'T Flush
DIY Forum &bull Feb 18, 2010
We are desperate for some help! Our one-story house was built on a slab in 1974 and is in Arkansas on a very flat piece of land. Our septic tank is on the west side of the house, and there are 3 vent pipes between the house and the (buried) tank lid. We have 2 toilets.… Full Story »
